Most policyholders know their annual premium but have no idea what their policy is worth each year. The year-by-year benefit illustration fixes this.

What a year-by-year table shows:

For each policy year (from year 1 to maturity):

  1. Death benefit - what the nominee gets if policyholder dies that year (usually SA + accumulated bonus)
  2. Vested bonus - accumulated simple reversionary bonus so far
  3. Surrender value - what you get if you surrender the policy that year (Guaranteed Surrender Value or Special Surrender Value, whichever is higher)

Why this matters:

For planning: You can see exactly when your surrender value crosses your total premium paid - the "breakeven point." For most LIC endowment plans, this is around year 8-10.

For claims: Nominees can see exactly what death benefit is payable for each year.

For loan decisions: Loan is based on surrender value - the table shows you how much you can borrow each year.

Example - Jeevan Anand (914), Age 30, SA ₹5L, Term 20 years:

  • Year 5: Death benefit ₹7.40L, Surrender value ₹0.94L
  • Year 10: Death benefit ₹9.40L, Surrender value ₹2.55L
  • Year 15: Death benefit ₹11.40L, Surrender value ₹5.25L
  • Year 20 (maturity): ₹10.80L
