How to Use MyLIC App: Step-by-Step Guide (2026)
MyLIC app lets you pay premiums, check policy status, request loans, and revive lapsed policies from your phone. Here's exactly how to set it up and use every feature.
In the past two years I've helped over 500 clients set up the MyLIC app, and the most common feedback I get is: 'Ajay sir, why didn't I do this earlier?' The app handles nearly everything you'd otherwise need to visit a branch for. Here's the complete setup and usage guide for 2026.
Downloading the app is straightforward. On Android, search 'MyLIC' on the Google Play Store and install the app published by Life Insurance Corporation of India. On iPhone, the same app is on the App Store. Avoid any app that isn't published directly by LIC, as there are lookalike fraudulent apps in circulation.
Registration requires three things: your LIC policy number (it's on your premium receipt or policy bond), your date of birth, and your registered mobile number. Open the app, tap 'New User Registration', enter your policy number and date of birth, and LIC sends an OTP to your registered mobile. Enter the OTP, set a four-digit MPIN, and you're in. If your mobile number isn't registered with LIC, you'll need to visit a branch once to update it before you can complete registration.
Once registered, you see a dashboard with all your active policies. The most-used features are these. Premium payment: tap your policy, then 'Pay Premium', and choose between UPI, net banking, debit card, or credit card. The receipt comes by email within minutes. Policy status: the dashboard shows your next due date, sum assured, accumulated bonus, and surrender value for each policy. Loan against policy: tap 'Loan', check your eligibility (the app calculates this automatically based on surrender value), and submit an application. The loan is disbursed to your bank account within 3 to 5 working days. Policy revival: if your policy has lapsed, tap 'Revival', check the outstanding premium plus interest amount, and pay online.
Three common errors people run into. First, 'Policy not found': this usually means the policy number entered has an extra space or a digit is wrong. Double-check your policy bond. Second, 'Mobile number not registered': visit your LIC branch with your policy bond and Aadhaar to update your number in 10 minutes. Third, app login fails repeatedly: clear the app cache, force-close it, and try again. If it still fails, uninstall and reinstall.
The nominee update feature deserves a special mention. You can update or add nominees directly in the app under 'Service Requests'. This is something I strongly recommend every policyholder do once a year, because outdated nominees cause delays during claims.
