One of the most common questions I get from clients is: how do I check my LIC policy status without coming to the office? Here are three reliable ways.

Method 1: LIC Customer Portal. Register at licindia.in with your policy number, date of birth, and mobile number. Log in to view premium payment history, loan eligibility, revival amount, and maturity date.

Method 2: LIC Mobile App. Download the LIC of India app from the Play Store or App Store and register with your customer ID (from your policy document). The app shows all linked policies, premium due dates, and lets you pay premiums directly through UPI, net banking, or debit card.

Method 3: WhatsApp. Save LIC's official WhatsApp number 8976862090 to your contacts, then send Hi to initiate. Follow the chatbot prompts to check policy status, premium due, and loan details.

If You Cannot Access the Portal

Common issues: mobile number not registered with LIC, Aadhaar not linked to the policy, or an old policy number that predates the digital system. In these cases, your LIC agent can pull the information for you through the agent portal. Call Ajay Kumar Poddar at 9415313434 with your policy number and he will check the status directly.

Important: always verify your premium payment receipts through the portal. I have seen cases where clients assumed premiums were auto-debited but the policy had actually lapsed. A 10-minute check every quarter prevents this.
